Bennett's Mechanical was founded in 1990 by Scott Bennett, a native of Altavista, Virginia. Shortly after, our current Vice President, Eddie Moon, joined in to help. Scott and Eddie both have a natural talent with machinery coupled with a "just do it" attitude. Both have previously worked in industrial maintenance, repairs, and service.

In the beginning, Scott felt there was enough business in the Altavista area to open his own shop. With little capital, Scott formed a corporation and started contracting services to area industries, working out of a U-Haul truck in a local pharmaceutical plant with only a welder and a gang box.

Bennett's Mechanical purchased a four-acre site on 3rd Street in Altavista in 1996. Construction on the 12,000 sq foot building began, housing all types of fabrication equipment and large supplies of fabrication material and tooling. In 1997, an additional storage building was added, featuring a spacious work area and paint room. A new CNC Machine shop was completed in 2001. A new additional building had just been completed in 2008 as well.
